Things have been fun this past week. After finding the first piece of the key, we headed out to this strange carriage called a locomotive. It was there that I discovered that though we speak the same in the world, our script is completely different. Then we went to a university with so much to offer that I just couldn’t sit still. One of the professors, Mr. Pentinghast, is a strange fellow but I feel I can learn some crazy stuff from him. Towards the end of the week, Mercy decided to try to fight one of the boxers in the gym and was taken down easily. To finish things off, someone snuck into my room and belongings. I was careless and if father was here, he’d lecture me to death. I’m interested as to who did this, putting me into a game of cat and mouse. It’s time to stop slacking off and start having some fun.

(A note left behind for you. The messy handwriting is only made worse by the captain deciding to write in cursive for part of the letter, then returning to regular lettering immediately after.

This is my First Letter to all of you. I apologize for my poor handwriting skills, but seeing as this is my First Letter, I hope all of you are forgiving.

Now onward to sea! And fare endeavors! My ecstatic entrepreneurial team forced a leave! Coincidentally, our new plans opened in no time!

Damn fools nearly got us all killed!

One wanker brought down a four ton block on his bloody head! The fates must have been in a right good humor, though, for Royce and I were nowhere near the imbecile when it fell. Squashed him into bloody marmalade. Even my significant skill with medicine couldn’t save the poor bastard. Just as well, I suppose – he would have been a damned invalid had he survived.

I am grateful for finding Royce, even though he’d put himself in a jolly good mess again. Nothing I couldn’t liberate him from. But it is good to have at least one civilized person with some wits about them. The rest of this lot doesn’t even have a half-wit between them.

Oh Edward! That cretin Shmegwirth, or whatever the hell his awful name is, had the audacity to trifle with me! I had a good mind to open up his bloody skull with the butt of my pistol just to see how damned empty it actually was…

If you had only been here Edward. My sweet Rosebud misfired! Shattered her clean in two, I’ll have to rebuild her entirely. And all of this horrible misfortune Just to save those bloody wankers!

But I digress. We found murals, Edward! Portraits of the King in Yellow, and of the Great Old One himself – great Cthulhu! Oh, we’re on to something grand, the find of a century!

Someone is going to die for the crack on my head. Painfully. Slowly. And in pieces.

Now my client is dead and I’m out of a job. I repeat. Someone is going to die for this.

To top off this grand day, I’m surrounded my morons. One of these idiots got himself killed just minutes after I woke up. At least Craven isn’t a total imbecile. He at least had the sense to pay me. He might also be useful in finding who hit me.

In the meantime, Craven informs me this particular job of his could benefit from my involvement and would be potently lucrative. Though, I wonder how long I’ll have to put up with these…others. What are they even doing? Half of them are standing around as if they’re daydreaming and the other half are charging headlong to their deaths. I was ready to abandon the lot of them to explore this place but then that thing showed up. And it just had to be between me and Craven. Guess I’ll have to go save him. Again.

Upon sleep the party was visited by a dream… strange…. and but you heard him.. did you? what was his name? Oh right it was

Clearly, these imbeciles are heathens and ingrates. It will be nothing short of a miracle that they do not come to an early demise, and take me with them. To whatever godforsaken afterlife would take them.

However, they speak of the Man in Black. Not since I stepped across the threshold of that forbidden crypt so many years ago have I heard mention of his name. I had thought many times since that fateful day that my exposure to the blistering heat of the dessert had perhaps addled my mind on that journey, and that I had just imagined the ancient glyphs that spoke of the Black Pharaoh.

But he is REAL, my sweetest Evilyn. And I am most assuredly convinced that these uncultured swine will take me to him. I am afraid there will be more knife work to be done, dark deeds done in the dark watches of the night.

But I will unravel this mystery of the Man in Black. Mark my words, my dulcet darling. And then I will return home to you.

What horrible things have I now seen brother? When I look out into the bay, I don’t see the infinite possibility of taking the championship belt. No, I see the corruption of the human soul that comes with not having 22 inch pythons. Only mastery of my mind and the indomitable spirit can pin the foe and take back the glory. Come on in to my world, where nightmares are the best part of my day! Innsmouth, I am coming for you brother!

The guild is visited by two newcomers, Mercy Lee and Surveil, both of whom arrived with the new group of settlers. After a chat with the current heads of the guild, the newcomers were recruited and another visitor cast a shadow in the doorway. Xado herself. She quickly tells the group that her new benefactor, Nyarlathotep, has a request for them, and that they should make their way too him as soon as possible.  Soon they were on their way across the ocean. What awaits them in the new world? And what do they have to fear in Innsmouth, that they should receive such a warning from the ships captain?

I find myself missing home more and more these days. Magic has left us..for what reason I do not know. I must have done something to make magic part with me perhaps while I was drinking? Oh..but that's so often and so often am I unsure of what I've done ..better days I hope may lie ahead as knowing thus far the road has been full of obstacles.
